Laura Heifferman tells us how her parents met:
This is a very old story but here goes.......My Mother worked in the same shop/factory as Lena Flicker who, as you know , was my father's cousin. She got friendly with my Mother, the "greenhorn" (her words not mine) and told her that she had someone who my Mother might want to meet. My Mother asked where he was from and Lena answered that he was from Galitzia. My Mother was aghast....She had heard that the men from Galitzia (otherwise known as Galitzianers) were very "fast" and she was not anxious to meet him. But Lena persisted and eventually my Father "called on" my Mother, bringing flowers and candy. She was impressed (her words) because of his kindness and also because he was dressed to the nines with his hat band the same as his tie. This was very impressive according to my Mother. The rest is history.....
